World Cancer Day is observed every year on 4th February to spread awareness about cancer, encourage its prevention, and promote early detection and treatment. It is led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and supported by various health organizations worldwide.
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death globally, affecting millions of people every year. It can develop in almost any part of the body and is often caused by factors such as tobacco use, unhealthy diet, lack of physical activity, pollution, and genetic factors. However, many types of cancer can be prevented through healthy lifestyle choices and regular medical check-ups.
The main objective of World Cancer Day is to educate people about the signs and symptoms of cancer so that it can be detected at an early stage. Early detection significantly increases the chances of successful treatment and survival. Campaigns also focus on reducing myths, fear, and stigma associated with the disease.
