GIET School of Pharmacy and American Oncology Institute jointly organized a cancer awareness seminar on Early detection and timely protection of cancer. The chief guest, Dr. Sai Krishna Kolluru, Medical Oncologist, American Oncology Institute, Vijayawada, spoke about the types of cancer affecting men and women, causes of cancer, diagnostic tests and health rules to be followed by people of different ages.

He highlighted that breast and cervical cancer are most prevalent in India and advised women aged 9-26 years to get the HPV vaccine. He said that cancer can be completely cured if detected in the first stage. Dr. S. Ramachandran, Vice Principal, School of Pharmacy, said that the risk of cancer can be prevented through cancer vaccination.

During the program, students' queries were addressed by the resource person, Dr. Sai Krishna. The program was supervised by Shaik Meera, NSS PO and attended by students of School of Allied health sciences and School of Pharmacy and faculty members
